There are two main reasons for this:
Traditional social media take about 80% of the value created by content from creators on their platforms.
This lets the social media make billions from ads, while only giving a small share of the earnings back to the creators.
To fix this issue, content creators began working with brands through "sponsored content." However, these partnerships are often unsatisfying because brands team up with creators mainly to reach their audience, not to value the quality of the creator’s content.
Not to mention that these deals can be risky as they can harm the trust between the creator and their followers.
That's why the founders of MYM, Pierre Garonnaire and Gaspard Hafner, wanted to create a business model that lets content creators keep most of the revenue from their own content. For users, MYM aims to offer exclusive, high-quality content that they truly want.
